Keep the Boom Fun: Allstar Safety Tips

At Allstar Fireworks, we love a spectacular show as much as anyone, but nothing is more important than keeping our Kansas City families safe. Whether you’re visiting our tents in Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs, or Raymore, use this guide to ensure your backyard celebration is an “Allstar” success! Read on to review our essential fireworks safety tips for family this season.

Safety first! These expert tips were adapted for our KC families from the safety guidelines provided by CelebrateSafely.org here.

 1. The Allstar “Pro” Basics

  • Know Your Local Playbook: Fireworks laws vary by city across the KC metro. Make sure you’re up to speed on your local ordinances before you light the fuse!
  • Buy from the Best: Only purchase from reputable, licensed stands (like our Allstar locations!). Avoid “homemade” devices or illegal items—they aren’t worth the risk.
  • Designate a “Crew Chief”: Choose one sober, responsible adult to be in charge of the show. Alcohol and fireworks are a dangerous mix.

2. Setting the Stage

A great show starts with a safe setup. Treat your driveway or yard like a pro stadium:

  • Clear the Field: Always light fireworks in an open, outdoor area away from houses, dry grass, and overhanging trees.
  • Water on the Sidelines: Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose ready at all times for quick extinguishing and to douse “duds.”
  • One at a Time: Never try to light multiple fireworks at once. Give every firework its moment in the spotlight!

3. Future Allstars: Safety for the Kids

We’re a family-owned business, and we want to keep your little ones safe!

  • Sparkler Supervision: Did you know sparklers burn at 1,800°F? That’s hotter than a blowtorch! Always supervise kids, keep them 6 feet apart, and have them wear closed-toe shoes.
  • The “Drop Bucket”: Have a bucket of water specifically for used sparkler wires. They stay hot long after the glow is gone.
  • No Hand-Offs: Never pass a lit firework to another person or run while holding one.

4. The Post-Game Cleanup

Don’t let the fun end with a fire hazard. Once the show is over:

  • Soak It Down: Let spent fireworks sit for 15–20 minutes, then soak them in a bucket of water overnight before throwing them in the trash.
  • Respect the Neighbors: Clean up all debris from the street and yards. Being an Allstar means being a great neighbor!

5. Protecting Your MVP (Most Valuable Pet)

Did you know? More pets go missing on the 4th of July than any other day of the year. Let’s keep our furry teammates safe and sound:

  • Stay Indoors: Keep pets in a secure, quiet room inside the house. Turn on the TV or radio to help drown out the “booms” from the neighborhood.

  • Check the ID: Make sure collars are on and microchip info is up to date, just in case they manage to make a “break for it.”

  • Skip the Scraps: Keep your pets away from firework debris and keep the “people food” off their menu—it can lead to a rough morning-after.

Supporting the KC Community, One Spark at a Time

At Allstar Fireworks, we believe the best celebrations are the ones where memories are made safely. As a family-owned business rooted right here in the heart of Missouri, we take pride in being more than just a fireworks stand. When you visit our tents in Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs, or Raymore, you aren’t just buying world-class pyrotechnics; you’re supporting local youth sports, school booster clubs, and community fundraisers.

For us, “Celebrating Safely” means looking out for our neighbors. Our team is always on hand to help you choose the right products for your space—whether you have a massive acreage in Kingsville or a suburban driveway in Pleasant Hill or Warrensburg. We want your 4th of July to be the “Allstar” highlight of your summer, filled with big cheers and zero accidents.

So, before you head out to light up the Missouri sky, double-check your safety gear, keep a close eye on the kiddos, and make sure your pets are tucked away. From our family to yours, let’s make this Independence Day the loudest, brightest, and safest one yet. See you at the stands, KC!
